Renunciation of Panamanian Citizenship
Requirements and process description:
. Write a formal request in Spanish, like the model enclosed below.
. Send the request duly notarized to the Consulate of Panama in your jurisdiction for authentication. Money order for US$30.00 issued to the "Consulate of Panama" must be included with the request. (if there is no Consulate in your area, you can send the document to The Consulate of Panama in Washington, D.C.)
. Legal Department of the Embassy of Panama will send the request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
. The process of obtaining the Executive Resolution that approves the renunciation takes approximately three (3) months . It is important to mention that the renunciation of your citizenship does not mean that you lose your Panamanian nationality or the right to use your passport; it only means that you cannot claim your citizen rights.

S.E. SEÑOR PRESIDENTE DE LA REPUBLICA DE PANAMA:
Por este medio yo, ____________________, mayor de edad, panameño, con cédula de identidad personal No. _________ , manifiesto voluntariamente a su Excelencia muy respetuosamente mi renuncia expresa a la ciudadanía panameña.
Actualmente, desempeño el cargo de ____________________ en el Departamento ______________de Estados Unidos, lo cual requiere mi renuncia expresa a la ciudadanía panameña. A tal efecto, solicito muy respetuosamente al Excelentísimo Señor Presidente la suspensión de mis derechos como ciudadano de la República de Panamá y la correspondiente emisión de una Resolución Ejecutiva que sirva de constancia al gobierno de los Estados Unidos de mi renuncia expresa.
Hago propicia la ocasión para presentar al Excelentísimo Señor Presidente las muestras de mi más alta estima y consideración personal.

H.E THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF PANAMA:
Through this letter I ____________________, a Panamanian of legal age with personal "cédula" identification No. _________ , respectfully and voluntarily manifest my desire to renounce my Panamanian citizenship.
At the present, I am fulfilling the duty of ____________________ in the Department ____________________ of the United States. This duty requires the renunciation of my Panamanian Citizenship in writing. To this effect, I respectfully request from His Excellency The President the suspension of my rights as a citizen from the Republic of Panama and the corresponding signature of an Executive Resolution that serves as proof to the government of the United States of my renunciation.
I would like to use this occasion to offer His Excellency the assurances of my highest esteem and consideration.
